Localized hardware or glass problems may be repairable, but structural wood decay can require work beyond the sash or glass. Inspect the frame and surrounding opening before comparing scopes.

Diagnose first
Surface condensation and moisture trapped between insulated panes are different conditions. Identify where the moisture is forming before assuming the full window needs replacement.

A broken pane, sash balance or hardware issue may be repairable. Rot, structural frame damage, repeated water intrusion, widespread seal failure or a poorly performing old assembly can shift the economics toward replacement.
